New to Early Childhood at New Site?
FAQs
Below are the most commonly asked questions about New Site Early Childhood Ministry
Where is the Early Childhood area?
The Early Childhood department is located upstairs in our Children’s Ministry Building. From the Main Lobby you will go past the computer check in wall & up the ramp to the Early Childhood department.
We have wall signs & greeters with name badges that can help you find your way!
Who are the volunteers?
We have many dedicated & hard working New Site Volunteers that help in Nursery, Sunday School, and Early Childhood Children’s Church. All volunteers are regular attenders or members of New Site & have passed a full state and federal background check by the New Site Church Office.
What will my child be doing?
We strive to provide age appropriate activities & bible lessons for all of our New Site Kids.
Nursery: age appropriate toys are provided for infants, crawlers & toddlers. We have multiple connected rooms so volunteers can watch, rock, & play with children in a safe environment for all.
2 year olds – Kindergarten: age appropriate toys & activities are provided in each classroom. Our teachers & helpers will lead children in games, activities, crafts, & a bible lesson.
What if my child has an allergy or special need?
If your child has an allergy or a special need that we should be aware of please let us know. We want to work with you to ensure your child’s time at New Site is enjoyable & safe.
How do I check my child in?
Your first time checking in your child(ren) you will need to fill out a family information card at either The Welcome Center in the Main Lobby or the Early Childhood Check In desk as you enter the ministry area.
We will collect the following information: Parent(s) names & contact information, Children’s names, birthdates, allergy information.
This information will be put into our Church database & check in system so that you can check in your child on one of the wall check in computers on your next visit.
All Early Childhood families will be greeted by a volunteer at the Early Childhood Check In desk. After saying “see you later!” to their parents, children will be taken to their appropriate classroom by a volunteer.
What does my child need to bring?
Great Question! Here is a list of items you may want to bring for your child depending on their age.
- A few disposable diapers or extra underwear if your child is still “training”
- Pacifier or other item, should your child need it for security
- A change of clothes in case your child should need it
- A bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water (Nursery only)
What is your health policy?
Please keep your child home if he/she has:
- Has had a fever of 100 degrees or higher within the last 24 hours
- Has vomitted or had diarrhea within the last 24 hours
- Has been in contact with someone who has symptoms or has tested positive for COVID
- Has an illness or rash such as chickenpox, measles, or hand, foot and mouth disease
We also ask that if you have discovered lice, nits, or eggs on your child’s head that they be treated & have had their hair combed and picked through before they attend.
If you need assistance or advice on dealing with lice please let us know.
Will my child receive any snacks?
The Early Childhood department does provide snacks to children while they are in class. Our “go-to” snacks are Goldfish crackers or animal crackers & water.
If your child has an allergy or special need regarding snacks please let us know & we will discuss alternatives and make a special note in their check-in information.
